WHY DO WE HAVE SINGLE PARENT?

Question: Do You Have Any Tips For Us Single Parents?
Being a single parent is not an easy undertaking. Most of us don’t bring our children into the world prepared to parent them alone. When we do end up alone and doing most of the parenting ourselves we need to be willing to come up with a game plan and stick to the plan. With a few helpful tips, you can make the job of being a single parent easier.

Answer: Prioritize Responsibilities:
As a single parent, you are required to handled more than you did when you had a partner. You’ve got to worry about finances, your career, maintaining your home and taking care of your children and do it all on your own. If you begin to feel overwhelmed, you need to sit down and make a list of priorities. By doing this you will minimize the level of stress you feel. Something’s to consider when prioritizing your responsibilities are:
Paying bills. Instead of paying bills as they arrive, schedule paying bills one afternoon a month. That way you can take care of all the bills in one sitting. You might also consider paying your bills via the Internet. Having monthly bills taken straight from your account will free up enormous amounts of your time.

Household responsibilities. If your children are old enough, give them each jobs to do around the house. The younger ones can keep their rooms picked up and take out the garbage. The older children can do laundry, fill and empty the dishwasher and make sure the house is picked up before bedtime. This will free up some of your time to take care of other responsibilities and will help teach your children the importance of taking on some responsibilities around the house.
Quality Time With the Family:
Your children should always be placed at the top of your list of priorities. After a divorce, your children’s emotional stability may be shaken and you will want to do everything you can to make sure that the divorce does not have any long lasting effects on them.
In spending quality time with your children, you will lessen the damage of divorce and be able to meet any needs they may have. Quality time with your children is a that their parent still cares for them. It also brings you and your children closer together; and feelings of closeness can help you and your children cope and heal from the trauma of divorce

Show Your Ex – Spouse Respect:
No matter how angry or bitter you may feel, it is important that you do not belittle your ex – spouse in front of your children. After a divorce children need to feel that they are loved by both parents and that both parents are worthy of their love and respect. So, don’t take away the child’s right and need to view their parent as their hero, someone worthy of their love, attention and time. Belittling a parent in front of a child does the child more harm than the parent and it only increases your anger and bitterness.
Although being a single parent is a difficult job, you can make certain that you are the best parent you can possibly. You can help your children feel secure by setting priorities, spending time with them and remaining kind.
